Burtonique

Welcome!

The Oregon Coast is definitely "OPEN" for the summer, contrary to what you might have heard! The Wild Rivers' Coast offers a variety of activities to keep one busy for months! There are lots of coastal hiking trails, beaches to beachcomb, art galleries, kayaking, fishing, lighthouses to visit , camping, Salmon Run Golf Course and much more. Plus the Burtonique Art & Photography Studio tour.

"Local, affordable art that tugs at your heart" is offered by Len and Violet Burton. Original oil paintings are by Len and photography is by Violet. Commissions are accepted for paintings and photos of you on location in your favorite, local spot.

Len enjoys painting the local beaches and forest scenes. His repertoire includes 27 west coast light houses. He painted the St. George Light House six times. A new arena for him is painting on small "box" canvases that do not need to be framed. You can watch him paint these at the Saturday Farmers' Market on the Boardwalk at the Port of Brookings Harbor June 14 through October 11, 9am-3pm.

Violet continues to capture a "moment in time", sometimes with film and more recently with digital. Her doors & windows are in the "secret" series and are very popular. Boats in the harbor, gas pumps, garden floral, pelicans, and beaches round out the collection.

May 17/18 the Burtons will be participating at the Gold Beach Art and Wine Festival at the fairgrounds. A variety of Oregon wineries will be there for your tasting pleasure. May 24/26 is the popular Azalea Festival with many activities planned during the 3-day event and the Burton's have a booth in the Festival and show work in the Azalea Festival Art Show.

Together they work on custom wood designs of welcome plaques and framing. Len designs, cuts from wood and paints the three-dimensional objects. The Heron Welcome Plaque is the latest edition. Did you know herons are good luck? With driftwood plentiful they incorporate it in framing, heartshaped mirrors and one of a kind objects.

They welcome visits to their artist studio and gallery at any time...just a phone call away (541-469-9522) They will be participating in the Brookings Open Studio Tour July 12 and 13th. You can purchase your ticket and get your brochure and map at Manley Art Center and Gallery late May. Twenty artists and fine craftspeople will be on the tour at ten locations.
